MSU faculty were invited present their research at a one-day
workshop at MSU on Saturday, April 24.
The aim of the meeting was to bring together interested faculty
togoether to
ascertain if new interdisciplinary interest group(s) and goals for
Computational Biology development on campus can be established,
particularly with respect to the "Life Sciences Corridor" proposed by
Governor Engler [which would result in a considerable amount of new
funding in the biological and related sciences] and the proposed
formation of a new Center for Theoretical and Computational Science at
MSU.
The meeting will began with a brief overview of the current status and
future opportunities, followed by a series of ten minute
presentations by faculty of current research activities on the
MSU campus. The meeting concluded with a free-wheeling discussion concerning
what we, the faculty, with support of the
administration, could do to promote and enhance interdisciplinary
research in this vital area at MSU.
Below are some of the results of that meeting
